Sami Valimaki will be determined to redeem himself by winning the
Mexican Open after finishing second in last year's tournament.
What to know about Valimaki
The Finnish star reached as high as 10th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2018 and also played several Nordic Golf League events during 2017 and 2018 as an amateur.
Since turning professional in 2019, Valimaki has won eight tournaments including two European Tour events, while also being named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 2020.

The Nokia-born golfer has been inactive he competed in the 2025 WM Phoenix Open in Arizona, USA where he missed the cut.
Valimaki is currently placed 164th on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and his best overall ranking is 68th.
Why Valimaki is one of the favourites
The 26-year-old will be returning to the Vidanta Vallarta where he finished second behind Jake Knapp who hit only two fairways in firing a level-par 71 final round to finish 72 holes on 19-under 265 in the 2024 Mexican Open.
Valimaki, who secured a top-15 finish at the PGA Tour's Farmers' Insurance Open last month, will be looking to go one step further and win this year's Mexican Open.
What did he say
“I enjoyed the whole week. I feel like I have the game to win over here, it just wasn't this Sunday. I mean, I was four behind, yesterday was Jake’s day and he kept it going on the back nine, so I feel like I didn't lose it today," Valimaki said after finishing second in the 2024 Mexican Open.
“I don't know, was it lucky or unlucky I hit the road? Stayed in play, then I take a penalty drop and then from there it was from the path to the grass (on a free drop from the cart path), and after that, I knew I only shot for me is to try to make 5 and finish for the second (place).”
