2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 30
Nottingham Forest v Manchester United

West Bridgford, England

Kick-off is at 19h00

Manchester United will be keen to keep the momentum going when they make the tricky trip to West Bridgford for a Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday, April 1.

The Red Devils have gone unbeaten in their last four matches since suffering disappointing back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace (2-0) and Tottenham (1-0).

Ruben Amorim's side drew 2-2 with a resurgent Everton and they also took two points off Arsenal (1-1), while managing to beat Ipswich (3-2) and Leicester (3-0) during that run.

However, United are still languishing down in 13th place, three points ahead of Spurs (14th), the Toffees (15th) and West Ham (16th), but they have some work to do to even break into the top 10, with the gap to Bournemouth currently seven points.

The Tricky Trees continue to surprise as they chase UEFA Champions League qualification for the first time since 1980.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side recovered from a blip in the second half of February by holding the Gunners to a 0-0 draw before they pulled off a shock 1-0 win over Manchester City and followed it up with a 4-2 victory against the Tractor Boys.

Forest beat United in each of their last two meetings and they will be looking to cement third place in the standings, while also keep the pressure on the North Londoners, who are four points above them in second position, with Chelsea a further five back in fourth spot.

Nuno will be sweating on the fitness of top scorer Chris Wood, who is nursing a hip injury he sustained on international duty with New Zealand, while Carlos Miguel is struggling with a thigh problem.

The injury curse appears to have struck again for the Red Devils as they must do without Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Ayden Heaven (both ankle), Luke Shaw (calf), Kobbie Mainoo, Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans (back), although Patrick Dorgu returns from suspension and Leny Yoro (ankle) and Harry Maguire could come back into contention.

Nuno is hoping for more of the same from former United winger Anthony Elanga, whose first-half brace against Ipswich put them in control at the break.

"I'm delighted for Anthony, he's been helpful all season, not only with the goals but the defensive work. When he's able to isolate players one v one he's unstoppable," the Portuguese said.

"He's versatile to play in all the frontal positions and we want all of our players to exploit the opposition. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but today we are happy."

Amorim praised Rasmus Hojlund, who ended a goal drought stretching back 13 games with the opener against the Foxes, and feels the international break came at the wrong time for the striker.

"It is a difficult goal, a difficult control [with] the right foot. So it's a shame we are going to stop for [the] national teams," the Portuguese said.

"But he will return with confidence. It's [also] just one win away and we have to continue when we return."
