Cagliari and Fiorentina will hope to return to the winning column in
Serie A football during matchday 33 as the two sides are scheduled to face off at the Sardegna Arena next week Monday.
Fiorentina have gone on a four-match unbeaten streak and head into their next game on the back of two consecutive draws with Milan and Parma respectively.
Sitting in eighth position on the table, defender Pablo Mari expressed that Fiorentina need to improve from a mental point of view after recording a 0-0 stalemate with Parma last time out.
“As I said before, I think what we need to improve is more mental than technical. These points are crucial, especially now,” Mari said.
“The season is at a stage where every match counts and if we want to achieve something special, we have to grow fast. Matches come every three or six days and we can’t fall behind. Every team is playing for something, whether it’s the title or survival. No one can want it more than us.”
“That’s the good thing about football as you play every three days,” Mari said. “There’s no time to dwell or to spend a full week trying to fix things. We’ll have our meetings, we’ll review what needs to improve and we’ll move on. We have to put all our hunger into the next match.”
As the home side, Cagliari suffered a 3-1 loss against Inter Milan in their latest Serie A assignment last Saturday.
After 32 matches played, Cagliari have accumulated 30 points and are in 15
th position as it stands.
