Following his Japanese Grand Prix triumph, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen will look at the
Bahrain Grand Prix as another opportunity to get ahead in the Formula One standings as the close contest between himself and McLaren’s Lando Norris continues.
Verstappen dominated the Japanese GP from pole position, a surprising return to form after a disappointing start to the 2025 season and struggles with the RB21. This win marked his first pole and victory of the season.
While thrilled with his Japanese GP win and pole-snatching qualifying lap against Lando Norris, four-time world champion Verstappen remains cautious about its implications for the rest of the season.
“I think we know our limitations,” he said.
“So we just have to try to run against that limitation as much as we can. But yeah, it's still not fixed.
“So this is hopefully going to be fixed soon, but I cannot give you a timeline on that. It's just about trying to find that limit, which is really sensitive for us at the moment.”
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner emphasized the significance of Verstappen's Suzuka victory, especially following McLaren's dominant wins in Australia and China.
“Max, without any debate, is the best driver in the world. I think for the drivers' championship, Max is, what, one point behind now? So for us, all priority is on that,” he said.
“The constructors is going to be harder, but it's a long year and you never give up and I think there's no better tonic or motivator than winning.”
Three races into the season, Red Bull trail McLaren by 50 points in the constructors' championship, while Verstappen is just one point behind Norris in the driver standings as the series heads to Bahrain.
