Barcelona will continue their pursuit of the
La Liga title when they take on Mallorca in a mid-week clash at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Tuesday evening, 22 April.
The Catalans are coming off the back of a morale boosting 4-3 win over Celta Vigo, and will be eager to carry through that same form going into this next match.
Barca are first in the league standings with 73 points, four ahead of their rivals Real Madrid as the push for the title has now shifted to being a two horse race.
Raphinha has been a standout performer this season, with the Brazilian forward racking up an impressive 30 goals and 23 assists across all competitions.
The legendary Cafu has thrown his full support behind Raphinha, claiming the Barca star deserves to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.
“Raphinha has deserved the Ballon d’Or for a long time. This year, even more so, because of all the numbers and everything he has done in the championship, not only in La Liga, but also in the Champions League,” said Cafu.
Meanwhile, Mallorca are seventh in the La Liga standings and their most recent game saw them play to a goalless draw against Leganes.
A key player for them has been central midfielder Sergi Darder, who has contributed with five assists in the league for the team this season.
Darder was actually a target for Barca two seasons ago, and the former Espanyol man explained at the time why he turned down a summer move to the club.
“Out of respect for Espanyol I said no (to Barcelona), even though I intended to leave the club. I would understand if other people did it,” he said.
