2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying
Group F
Matchday 3
Ghana v Sudan
Accra Sports Stadium
Accra, Ghana

Kick-off is at 16h00

Ghana head coach Otto Addo will be desperate to get their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign up and running against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10.

The Black Stars have made a stuttering start to proceedings in Group F and trail leaders Angola by five points in third place after two matches.

Addo's side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Black Sable Antelopes in Kumasi on September 5 before being held to a 1-1 draw by Niger in Berkane four days later.

The West Africans come up against a familiar face in Kwesi Appiah, who guided them to the 2014 World Cup in the first of two stints at the helm.

However, Addo insists there is no place so sentiment as he goes in search of his third win in charge since returning to the hotseat in March.

"We have so much respect for Kwesi Appiah for what he has achieved, but we cannot afford to underrate Sudan," he said in a press conference.

"Those days of underestimating certain teams in African football are over. This is 2024 - everyone can play and everyone can defend.

"We have so much respect for Kwesi Appiah and what he has done for the national team and Ghanaian football. But on Thursday we must put all that aside and focus on the game because it's about us and what we want to achieve."

Sudan have made a promising start in qualifying after beating Niger 1-0 in Juba on September 4 to make it three wins on the spin following back-to-back successes against Mauritania (2-0) and South Sudan (3-0) in June's 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Appiah's side pushed Angola all the way in Talatona on September 9 before succumbing to a 2-1 loss, with Randy Nteka scoring the winner nine minutes from time.

The Falcons of Jediane are two points better off than Ghana in second place and will be looking to strengthen their standing in the group with a positive result in Accra.

Head-to-Head record:

Matches - 10
Ghana wins - 7
Sudan wins - 2
Draws - 1
