2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 10
Bournemouth v Manchester City
Vitality Stadium
Bournemouth, England
Saturday, 2 November 2024
Kick-off is at 15h00
Manchester City will be looking to keep their perfect record against Bournemouth intact when the two teams clash at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, November 2.
The Citizens have won all 14 of their
Premier League meetings with the Cherries dating back to their first encounter at the Etihad Stadium on 17 October 2015.
Pep Guardiola's side maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they beat Southampton 1-0 on October 26 to go one point clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.
The Reds were knocked off the summit after playing out to a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on October 27 which halted a four-match winning streak.
Bournemouth have put in some impressive performances this term, narrowly losing to Chelsea and claiming the scalp of Arsenal before holding Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park on October 26.
Andoni Iraola's side have collected seven points from their last four outings to climb up to 11th place above Newcastle (12th) and just behind Fulham (10th) on goal difference, with all three clubs tied on 12 points.
In team news, Alex Scott (knee) is the only confirmed absentee for the hosts, who will assess the fitness of Luis Sinisterra, Kepa Arrizabalaga (groin) and Philip Billing (illness) in the coming days. The visitors remain without Rodri (knee), Oscar Bobb (calf), Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne (groin), while Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker (knee) are rated doubtful.
Iraola was relieved to see Evanilson score a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser after acknowledging that the Villans had the upper hand for large parts of the match.
"I am that happy we scored a goal in the last moments to recover a point in a difficult place, a difficult game," the Spaniard said.
"I think we did not play well, they played better than us. We played the game they wanted us to play, but we competed very well."
Guardiola admitted the Saints made life difficult for City in their own backyard, further illustrating the high level of competitiveness in the Premier League.
"I prefer to be top than not being top but it's not the point," the Spaniard said. "Look what happened today. Aston Villa dropped points [at home to Bournemouth] and Brighton dropped points [at home to Wolves] because it's so difficult.
"We won at Wolves in minute 94/95. Today we created chances and we could have scored two or three goals, the expected goals is much better. But I have to admit it was a demanding game for us. Such a demanding game for us."
