Carlos Ortiz will be eager to successfully defend his
Houston Open title when he takes part in this year's tournament on November 14.
Legendary Fijian golfer Vijay Singh remains the only golfer to have defended this tournament when he won it in 2005 and 2006.
Ortiz won his first PGA Tour event at the 2020 Houston Open when he became the third Mexican winner on the PGA Tour after Victor Regalado and Cesar Sanudo.

The last PGA Tour victory by a Mexican-born player, before Ortiz's win, was 22 years earlier by Regalado at the 1978 Quad Cities Open.
The Houston Open win also qualified him to be invited to the 2021 Masters Tournament, being the second Mexican to earn an invite, after his own brother, who played in the 2019 Masters as an amateur.
The 30-year-old failed to make the cut at the 2021 Masters Tournament in April with Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama.
Ortiz came close to winning the 2021 Mayakoba Golf Classic as he recorded five birdies on the back nine, before rallying for a runner-up finish last week.

"It's always good timing to be playing well anywhere, not only to Houston," Ortiz said as he looks to defend his title.
"I'm excited about next week and obviously these two golf courses are some of my favorite, next week because it was my first win and this one is just a special one.
"I'm happy the way I'm playing and I'm excited about next week."
Curtis Strange and Vijay Singh are the most decorated players in the history of the Houston Open having won three titles.
