2023/24 Italian Serie A
Matchday 37
AS Roma v Genoa CFC
Stadio Olimpico
Rome, Italy
Sunday, 19 May 2024
Kick-off is at 20h45 CAT
A wounded AS Roma side will face off with Genoa CFC in the A Serie A encounter at the Stadio Olimpico on 19 May.
Current Form
The Wolves suffered a 2-1 loss to Atalanta BC away on 12 May and they are winless in their last three matches in the Italian top-flight.
Roma are also winless in their last two home matches in the league having registered one defeat and one draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
Meanwhile, Genoa emerged as 2-1 winners over US Sassuolo at home on 12 May and they are undefeated in their last three matches in Serie A.
Il Vecchio Balordo (The Old Fool) are also undefeated in their last four away matches in the league having registered three draws and one win as the visitors.
Team News
Leonardo Spinazzola is the only player on Roma's injury list presently and the Wolves have no suspension worries.
On the other hand, Vitinha, Junior Messias and Mattia Bani are on Genoa's injury list at the moment, but the Old Fool also do not have any suspension concerns.
Quotes
"There was a reaction at the end, after the penalty incident. But we should be reacting sooner. They are a strong side – they go twice as fast as many teams in Italy and perhaps even in Europe," Roma manager Daniele De Rossi said after his side's defeat to Atalanta.
"But mental reactions exist in football, and sometimes we have to find that drive and win a few more duels, produce more good pieces of play, because we can't wait for a penalty to get back into a game. After the first goal we loosened up and we then immediately conceded another one.
"I know that it's not easy to play against these teams here, in this stadium, in this moment of ours, but we risked conceding so many goals, and that's not good."
Head-to-Head
Genoa claimed a 4-1 win over Roma in their last meeting in Serie A which was on 28 September 2023 at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Therefore, the Old Fool are undefeated in their last two matches in the league against Wolves who had recorded one win and one draw.
