PGA Tour
Bay Hill Club and Lodge
Bay Hill, Florida, USA
6-9 March 2025
Scottie Scheffler will be looking to become the first golfer to win back-to-back
Arnold Palmer Invitational titles since Tiger Woods won the 2012 and 2013 editions.
What to know about Scheffler
The American star enjoyed a successful amateur career, including victory at the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2013 and low-amateur honours at the 2017 U.S. Open, and also being part of the US team that won the 2017 Walker Cup.
Since turning professional in 2018, Scheffler has won 18 professional tournaments, including 13 PGA Tour events and two major championships, both the 2022 and 2024 Masters Tournament, while also finishing second in the US Open, and PGA Championship.
News
The 28-year-old has been inactive competitively since taking part in the 2025 Genesis Invitational in California, USA, where he finished third.
Scheffler is still placed at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), having spent over 100 weeks in the position.
Why Scheffler is among the favourites
The 2024 Olympic champion is a clear favourite to win this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, having won the tournament twice, including a win by one stroke over Viktor Hovland, Billy Horschel and Tyrrell Hatton in 2022.
Scheffler then showed why he is arguably the best golfer in the world when he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2024, as he ended the week at Bay Hill 15-under par, the lowest score since Rory McIlroy's 2018 win.
Quotes
“It’s really special. Mr. Palmer meant a lot to me, meant a lot to us as professional golfers and the game of golf, and so it’s very special to be able to sit here and wear his red sweater again. I’m very proud to be the champion of his tournament," Palmer said after winning the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
“I think it has a lot to do with keeping the mind as quiet as possible. Part of the problem is just trying too hard. It’s frustrating not to be the best out of myself, just because I know that I can putt really well. It’s not like I’ve been a bad putter my whole career.
"I’ve just gone through a stretch where it’s been tough. I think this week I did a really good job of not letting the misses get to me. (Caddie) Teddy (Scott) did a really good job of keeping me in a good headspace. We stayed positive out there, and I hit a lot of good putts this week.”
