The Golden State Warriors (34-28) will be going up against the Brooklyn Nets (21-40) as they meet on Friday morning at the Barclays Center.

On Tuesday the Warriors extended their impressive streak, clinching their seventh victory in eight games by defeating the New York Knicks 114-102.

Steph Curry spearheaded the effort, amassing 28 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Jimmy Butler and Brandin Podziemski contributed significantly as well, each adding 19 points to the scoreboard.

Despite the team’s resurgence, they are missing a key figure in their roster, Jonathan Kuminga. The 22-year-old has been out of action since 4 January against the Memphis Grizzlies. He picked up an injury to his ankle in that game and has slowly tried making a return to the court.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr hinted that Kuminga might be back soon, sharing that the young forward has participated in his first team scrimmage since sustaining the injury.

"Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who suffered a sprained right ankle on January 4 vs. Memphis and has missed the last 21 games, returned to team practice this evening at Chase Center for the first time since sustaining the injury," the Warriors said in a release as well.

"His return to game action will be based on his continued progress and physical readiness."

On Tuesday, the Nets' losing streak reached five games following a 127-113 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs. As a 3.5-point road underdog, Brooklyn didn't manage to cover the spread, and the total points scored exceeded the set line of 230.

Spurs dominated in the paint, outscoring the Nets 62-40. Shooting guard Cam Thomas was the top scorer for Brooklyn, contributing 24 points and 6 assists.

Thomas only returned to the game at the beginning of March, following an injury spell that kept him on the sidelines for two months. He shared how he feels about being back in action.

“I’m not going to overthink, overdo anything. Just do what I’ve been doing,” said the 23-year-old.

“But it was just more so just being more patient with it during the rehab. The rehab was the most important thing. But now it’s all good. I’m fine.”
