Max Verstappen will be determined to start his defence of the Formula One title with a win by clinching the
Australian Grand Prix.
What to know about Verstappen
The Dutch racing driver signed for Toro Rosso in 2015 as part of the Red Bull Junior Team, becoming the youngest driver in Formula One history at the Australian Grand Prix.
Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix on debut for Red Bull, aged 18 and he became the youngest-ever driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix race.
2024 Formula One season performance
The 27-year-old became the first driver to win a Formula One title driving for a third-placed team (Red Bull Racing) in the World Constructors' Championship since Nelson Piquet in 1983.
Verstappen also won the Formula One title consecutively from 2021 to 2024 with Red Bull, and has won 63 Grands Prix across 10 seasons.
Why Verstappen could win the 2025 Australian Grand Prix
The 2013 KZ World Championship winner won the 2023 Australian Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Aston Martin Aramco-Mercedes' Fernando Alonso.
Prior to that, Versappen finished third at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix and he is one of the favorites to win this weekend's Australian Grand Prix.
What did he say?
"The season is very demanding and they’ve added more locations and races over the years," Verstappen said ahead of the 2025 Formula One season.
"So, it's very important to find your own time, to try to rest up and spend time with your family and friends.
"I'm excited to be working with Liam (Lawson). I think the whole team is excited. We had a lot of good moments last year and some tough moments, so I hope that we can be a little bit more stable this year."
