Dallas Mavericks v LA Clippers
2020-21 NBA Playoffs
Western Conference First Round, Game 6
Friday 4 June 2021
American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
The Los Angeles Clippers will look to outsmart the Dallas Mavericks when the teams meet in a Game 6 clash in their NBA Playoffs First Round tie, set for the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Friday 4 June.
The series is tied 2-2 after the Clippers claimed a 106-81 rout in Game 4 earlier this week, with Game 5 set to take place on the morning of Thursday 3 January and allow one team a shot at claiming progression with a clash to spare.
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard have proved a dynamic duo for Los Angeles. "I think we both have just done a great job of complementing each other," George explained. "[Leonard] has been all-out driving and attacking and putting pressure on their bigs at the rim. Myself, as well. When he needs a break and a breather, now I am in attack mode. I think we are just doing a great job of countering each other.”

The Mavericks will hope Luka Doncic is fit and firing after an underwhelming showing in Game 4: “I don't think that matters right now,” Doncic said. “Injuries are a part of basketball. I was 100 percent. But I played terrible. Just got to move on to the next one.”

Coach Rick Carlisle disagreed: “[Doncic is] in pain. It appeared to me he couldn't turn left, couldn't look to his left, couldn't turn his neck to the left. That's difficult for a guy that relies on peripheral vision and basically has played his whole life with his head on a swivel. His neck issue certainly contributed to a 9-for-24 night and him having some real unusual struggles.”
In head-to-head stats, the Clippers and the Mavericks have met in 10 Playoff games since 1980-81, with Los Angeles claiming six wins compared to four for Dallas. The teams’ last Playoff series prior to 2020-21 was in 2019-20, with the Clippers winning 4-2.
The winner of this Playoff series will advance to face either the Utah Jazz or Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference semifinals later this month.
