Euro 2024
Semi-finals
Netherlands v England
Signal Iduna Park
Dortmund, Germany

Kick-off is at 21h00

Netherlands will be looking to reach their first European Championship final in 36 years when they face England at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on Wednesday, July 10.

The Oranje conquered Europe in 1988 when they won their one and only title on German soil and Ronald Koeman could repeat the feat at the scene of his former glory, having been a part of that Euro '88 team.

Koeman's side have showed their battling qualities at Euro 2024 after they came from behind to beat Poland in the group stages and Turkey in the quarter-finals, both by a 2-1 scoreline.

The Dutch have only suffered one defeat thus far which came against Austria (3-2) on June 25, although they bounced back with a convincing 3-0 victory over Romania in the round of 16.

Koeman is hoping the close proximity of Dortmund to the Netherlands border will see a sea of orange flock to the city for the crunch clash with the Three Lions.

"I think for the whole nation it's something special," he said. "We are a small nation and we are part of the semi-final with England, France and Spain ... We are really proud to get the opportunity to play for a spot in the final on Wednesday.

"England have good players, but we have too. We play in Dortmund, in one of the most beautiful stadiums, closer to the Netherlands, maybe that also makes a difference."

Koeman was glad to silence the critics with a big performance against the Crescent Stars and praised the desire of his players to turn things around after going behind in the first half.

"We had to suffer tonight but there is not an easy one in a tournament like this. The players put everything tonight, it was really an emotional match and they showed a big heart," he added.

"Sometimes we get critiques about that, that we don't have that compared to other nations. And the players showed tonight a big heart after going one nil down and made a good second half."
