Spain are odds-on favourites to win their first European Championship title in 12 years when they face England in the final of the 2024 edition at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday, July 14.

La Furia Roja last conquered Europe in 2012 when they lifted the trophy for the third time, having become the first team in the history of the tournament to successfully defend their crown.

Luis de la Fuente's side also made history with their 2-1 victory over France in the semi-finals as the first team to win six consecutive matches at the European Championship.

They are the top scorers at Euro 2024 with 13 goals and have conceded just three times in six games, while Dani Olmo is the joint-leading scorer (3) after bagging the winner against Les Bleus.

De la Fuente is not about to underestimate the Three Lions though, as they have recent experience of playing in a tournament decider after losing to Italy on penalties three years ago.

"Before starting the tournament, England and France would have been favourites, as well as Germany for the fact they were playing at home," he said.

"We have had the chance to keep overcoming those games [against the favourites] and now we have another huge match. Maybe Spain have offered a better version so far at the finals [than England], but that won't have any influence on a one-off game.

"England have quality players that can appear at any moment. We are up against a really powerful side full of experience, not just in terms of the national team, but at club level as well. It's going to be tough.

"But we're looking forward to this one. We want to keep growing. This group of players are going to keep fighting to try and win the trophy."

England have come from behind in each of their last three matches to book a ticket to the German capital for their second successive final appearance.

Gareth Southgate's side found themselves trailing to Xavi Simons' opener for the Netherlands after just seven minutes in the last four on July 10, but Harry Kane equalised from the penalty spot 11 minutes later and Ollie Watkins completed the comeback with a dramatic winner in the first minute of stoppage time.

The Three Lions have never won the European Championship, with their solitary title coming on home soil at the 1966 World Cup, and Southgate declared himself proud of giving their supporters "some of the best nights in 50 years".

"I took the job to try to improve English football and we're now in a second final. The last one was the first in over 50 years. We're now in a first one oversees," he said.

"We're giving people amazing nights. We've given our supporters some of the best nights in the last 50 years. I'm hugely proud of that. I'm delighted if everyone at home is feeling the way we are and the way those in the stadium were.

"But we're not finished. We've got the greatest possible test to prepare for. We came here to try to win the tournament and that's still our aim."
