Matchday 18

Abanca-Balaídos
Vigo, Spain
Saturday, 21 December 2024

Celta Vigo will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways in
La Liga when they host Real Sociedad at the Abanca-Balaídos on 21 December.
Current Form
The Sky Blues succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Sevilla FC away on 14 December and it was their second defeat in their last three games in the Spanish top-flight.
However, Celta are undefeated in their three home matches in the league having two victories and one draw at the Abanca-Balaídos.
Meanwhile, Sociedad were held to a 0-0 draw by Las Palmas at home on 15 December as they extended their unbeaten run to three matches in La Liga.
The White and Blues have won two of their last three away matches in the league and the other game ended in a defeat as the visitors.
Team News
Javier Manquillo, Fer López, Jailson and Mihailo Ristić are on Celta's injury list, but the Sky Blues have no suspension issues coming into this match.
On the other hand, Sociedad will be without injured players Jon Pacheco, Arsen Zakharyan, Aritz Elustondo and Hamari Traore, but the club doesn't have any suspension worries.
Quotes
"I am aware that they had three very clear chances, but it is a shame because our start to the game was very good. However, after (Martin) Zubimendi's loss of possession, doubts crept in, and they stepped up their game and had those three chances," Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil said after their draw with Palmas.
"If any team deserved the victory based on gameplay, being in the final third, and making the effort, it was us. In the last 20 minutes, we were superior; with our substitutions, we wanted to win no matter what to go into the break with a victory in front of our fans, but it wasn’t meant to be.
"One point is valuable, given that we couldn’t win; it’s better than losing, but we need to make this point count in Vigo."
Head-to-Head
Sociedad claimed a 1-0 win over Celta in their last meeting in La Liga with the match taking place at the Abanca-Balaídos on 20 January.
As a result, the White and Blues are undefeated in their last eight matches against the Sky Blues having registered six wins and two draws.
