Ghana won just one medal at the
2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and it was their 15th appearance in the prestigious tournament.
Samuel Takyi was the only Ghanaian to win a medal in Japan as he scooped bronze in the men's boxing featherweight division.
The 20-year-old sensation beat Jean Caicedo of Ecuador in the first round and he went on to defeat David Avila Ceiber of Colombia in the quarter-final.
A win over Ceiber earned Takyi a bronze medal, but he lost to Duke Ragan of the USA in the semi-final bout.

“Big congratulations to Samuel Takyi from all of us at home, for hoisting high the flag of Ghana at the Tokyo Olympics," Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo said.
"And for winning a bronze medal, Ghana’s first Olympic medal in 29 years. Well done."
Ghana entered one male weightlifter into the competition with Rio 2016 Olympian
Christian Amoah having set his sights on winning an Olympic medal.
Amoah had topped the list of weightlifters from Africa in the men's 96 kg category based on the IWF Absolute Continental Rankings.
However. the 22-year-old finished fourth in his event in Tokyo as the second round proved a daunting task for him, only clearing the 145 snatch and 170 clean and jerk on the second attempt.

Benjamin Azamati, who is considered to be one of the fastest sprinters in the world, was hoping to become the first Ghanaian to win a medal in athletics in the Olympics.
Having won the 2019 African Games gold medalist in the 100 meters, Azamati could not qualify for the semi-final after finishing fourth in the first round race.
His compatriot Joseph Amoah managed to reach the men's 200 meters semi-finals, but he failed to secure his spot in the final after finishing fourth in his heat.
