Minnesota Timberwolves v Miami Heat

NBA Regular Season

Saturday 17 April 2021
Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Tip-off at 02:00 CAT

The Minnesota Timberwolves will aim to freeze out the Miami Heat when the teams meet in an NBA Regular Season clash at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the morning of Saturday 17 April 2021. Tip-off is at 02:00 CAT.

The 2020-21 season has been a tough one for the Timberwolves, who look highly likely to end at the bottom of the Western Conference, as they struggled to even hit the .300 mark in their winning percentage.

Nonetheless, they are capable of taking down some notable opponents, as they did this past weekend with an impressive 121-117 win over the Chicago Bulls. "I think, for us, it was just more about staying solid, continuing to play our game plan no matter how things went," said Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns. "I think we showed a lot of discipline tonight."

The Heat are solidly placed in the upper mid-table in the Eastern Conference, with star men such as Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo beginning to find their peak form as the business end of the season approaches.

This was especially evident in a 107-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers this past weekend, with the Miami side getting their defence sorted and laying the platform to build from going forward. Last season’s runners-up are hoping to be a powerful force when the Playoffs get underway, but they’ll have to show consistency first.

"We were just trying to really hone in on defence. We just really felt with this team that's how you win," Adebayo said. "We were able to get stops and get into transition and get a few dunks. That's why we won by a lot."

In head-to-head stats, the Timberwolves and Heat have met in 60 Regular Season games since 1989-90, with Miami claiming 33 wins compared to 27 for Minnesota. The teams last met in the Regular Season in February 2020, with the Timberwolves claiming a 129-126 home win thanks to 27 points from D’Angelo Russell.
