AS ROMA VS FC PORTO – STADIO OLIMPICO, ROME
Roma snapped a three-match winless run and rose to fourth in Serie A with a comfortable 3-0 win at Chievo on Friday evening. Stephan El Sharaawy opened the scoring with his 11
th league goal of the current campaign. He is yet to find the back of the net though in three UEFA Champions League outings this season as Roma finished second in their group behind defending champions Real Madrid.
Roma recent results:
08/02/2019 – Chievo 0-3 Roma
03/02/2019 – Roma 1-1 Milan
30/01/2019 – Fiorentina 7-1 Roma
Porto currently lead the Portuguese Primera Liga by four points ahead of bitter rivals Benfica, albeit having played one game more. The Dragaos head into this encounter off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Moreirense on Friday. Hector Herrera netted deep into stoppage time to earn a share of the spoils for the visitors although that result now means that Porto have just one win from their last four in all competitions.
Porto recent results:
08/02/2019 – Moreirense 1-1 Porto
03/02/2019 – Vitoria 0-0 Porto
30/01/2019 – Porto 3-0 Belenenses
Tuesday night will be just the third time that the pair will face off in European competition having clashed in the play-off round for the UEFA Champions League back in 2016. Andre Silva’s second-half penalty earned Porto a 1-1 draw in the first-leg before Felipe Monteiro made up for his own goal in Portugal by scoring the opener in Italy in the second-leg as Porto romped to a 3-0 win in the corresponding fixture.
Roma vs Porto recent head-to-head:
23/08/2016 – Roma 0-3 Porto
17/08/2016 – Porto 1-1 Roma
MANCHESTER UNITED VS PARIS ST GERMAIN – OLD TRAFFORD
Former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho claimed it would require a miracle to get his side back into the top-four in the English Premier League however interim manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer has done it in merely seven weeks since his appointment after overseeing a run of 10 wins in 11 matches in all competitions.
Man United recent results:
09/02/2019 – Fulham 0-3 Man United
03/02/2019 – Leicester 0-1 Man United
29/01/2019 – Man United 2-2 Burnley
PSG will be without the services of star-forward Neymar due to injury although that hasn’t seemed to hamper the Parisian’s preparation for their monstrous tie at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Tomas Tuchel’s side bounced back from defeat to Lyon last week by booking their spot in the last-8 of the French Cup before a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bordeaux, courtesy of Edinson Cavani’s spot-kick, helped to extend their lead at the summit of Ligue 1. The Uruguayan forward will reportedly also miss his sides trip to Old Trafford.
PSG recent results:
09/02/2019 – PSG 1-0 Bordeaux
06/02/2019 – Villefranche 0-3 PSG
03/02/2019 – Lyon 2-1 PSG
This will be the first competitive meeting between Man United and Paris St Germain after the pair first faced in a pre-season friendly back in 2015. Blaise Matuidi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both scored in the first-half of an eventual 2-0 win for Les Rouge-et-Bleu in Chicago. The latter went on to enjoy relative success with the Red Devils upon signing for them in 2016, winning the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League titles in his sole season in England.
Man United vs PSG recent head-to-head:
30/07/2015 – Man United 0-2 PSG
