Uefa Champions League Matchday One Preview

The 2017/18 UEFA Champions League group stage will kick off this week with match day one taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The defending champions Real Madrid will open their campaign at home against Cyprus' Apoel FC in Spain in a Group H match on Wednesday. On the same night, German giants Borussia Dortmund are scheduled to face England's Tottenham Hotspur in London in another Group H encounter.

Spanish giants FC Barcelona will welcome Italian football powerhouse Juventus in a titanic Group D match at the Nou Camp on Tuesday. Another Group D encounter between Greek champions Olympiacos and Portuguese side Sporting CP will take place in Piraus on the same night. Reigning English champions Chelsea are scheduled to host Azerbaijan outfit Qarabag FK in a Group C match on Tuesday at the Stamford Bridge. Italian giants AS Roma, who are also in Group C, are set to play host to Spanish club Atletico Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday.

In Germany, former European champions Bayern Munich will welcome Belgian giants Anderlecht on Tuesday in a Group B encounter. Another Group B encounter will feature Scottish champions Celtic and France's Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Glasgow on Tuesday. In Group A, English football heavyweights Manchester United will face off with Swiss giants FC Basel on Tuesday at the Old Trafford. The group also features Portuguese champions SL Benfica, who are set to host Russian giants CSKA Moscow at the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday. Italian side SCC Napoli will travel to Kharkiv, Ukraine to face Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday in a Group F encounter. The current Dutch giants Feyenoord are scheduled to face off with English outfit Manchester City in Rotterdam in another Group F match on Wednesday. In Portugal, former European champions FC Porto will welcome Turkish giants Besiktas on Wednesday in a Group G encounter. Last season's French champions AS Monaco, without a number of stars who have sine moved on, will lock horns with German outfit RB Leipzig in a Group G encounter in Germany on Wednesday.

Liverpool FC, the five-time European champions, will play host to Spanish side Sevilla at the Anfield on Wednesday in a Group E match. The group also includes Slovenian champions NK Maribor, who are scheduled to welcome Russian champions Spartak Moscow on Wednesday.
