Italy’s Serie A will take a short break ahead of the New Year but not before one final round of fixtures - all to be played on Saturday - which will bring the top-flight teams to the halfway point of their respective seasons.

JUVENTUS VS SAMPDORIA – ALLIANZ STADIUM

The Old Lady survived a serious scare on Boxing Day but managed to claw themselves off the canvas when up stepped Cristiano Ronaldo to salvage a 2-2 draw at Atalanta and maintain Juventus’ unbeaten start to the season.



Sampdoria’s 2-0 win over Chievo last time out was their fifth in their last six matches in all competitions, a result that lifted L Blucerchiati up to fifth place on the Serie A table, leapfrogging AC Milan who were held to a goalless stalemate at Frosinone.

Juventus have lost just one of the last 10 league meetings with Sampdoria – 3-2 away from home last season – before winning the corresponding fixture 3-0 with all the goals coming in the second half of the encounter.



LAZIO VS TORINO – STADIO OLYMPICO

An enthralling top-half of the table clash awaits Serie A fans on Saturday as 4^th placed Lazio welcome Torino in 8^th to the capital, Rome for a battle between two gladiators of the Italian game. Lazio head into this clash off the back successive wins following a run of seven matches without success in all competitions.



Their opponents this weekend Torino have three wins from their last six matches in all competitions with their 3-0 triumph over Empoli on Wednesday putting to bed a run of three matches in the league without a win.

Torino have won just one of their last nine top-flight encounters against Lazio, coincidentally coming in the corresponding fixture last season when former Torino forward Ciro Immobile was shown a straight red card for Lazio in the closing minutes of the first-half.



PARMA VS ROMA – STADIO ENNIO TARDINI

Parma, competing in the top-flight once again for the first time in four seasons following the scandal that saw them demoted all the way to Serie D, have picked up 7 wins from their opening 18 matches in Serie A to leave them amidst the comfort of mid-table security in 12^th place. The Crociati’s 1-0 at Fiorentina last time out was their first win in five in the division.



Roma on the other hand have endured a disappointing campaign thus far by their own lofty standards. After just two wins from their last eight in all competitions, last season’s UEFA Champions League semi-finalists find themselves in seventh place, already a whopping 23 points behind the league leaders.

Saturday’s affair will be the pairs first meeting in over three years with the home side seeking just their third victory from the last 20 matches in Serie A between them. The last time the sides faced at the Stadio Tardini, Roma walked away 2-1 winners in September 2014 after Miralem Pjanjic’s 88^th minute winner secured all three points for the visitors.
