2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 9
Crystal Palace v Chelsea
Selhurst Park
London, England
Saturday, 1 October 2022
Kick-off is at 16h00 CT
Crystal Palace will be hoping to take advantage of the managerial change at Chelsea in their bid to halt a nine-match losing streak to their neighbours in the
Premier League on Saturday, October 1.
The Eagles have a poor record against the Blues, winning just four of their 26 meetings in the Premier League era, the last of which came almost exactly five years ago at Selhurst Park.
The West Londoners' disappointing start to the season cost Thomas Tuchel his job on September 7, with Graham Potter brought in from Brighton to replace him.
Tuchel departed Stamford Bridge in the wake of the 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League, which was the final straw for the club's new owners after seeing the German pick up just three wins from six league games this term.

Potter expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea hierarchy for putting their faith in him following an impressive three-year spell with the Seagulls.
"It's a completely different challenge to the one I've had," he said in his first press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash with RB Salzburg.

"I had three fantastic years at Brighton and it's an amazing football club but I'm very thankful for the ownership here for putting their trust and belief in me to work with an exciting group of players, to be competitive and to put a team on the pitch that our supporters are really proud of."
Palace have won just one of their opening six encounters, although they came up against some tough opponents in Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

A goalless draw at Newcastle last time out extended their winless run to three matches, but Patrick Vieira wasn't displeased with only claiming a point on Tyneside, saying many teams would struggle to get anything at St James' Park.
"Happy with the point," he said. "Tough place to come: a big atmosphere and we needed to defend well as a team. We did it well and fully deserve the point.
"You're looking at what they spent, their ambition, it's going to be challenging for any team coming here to get something. They're a really strong side and this is one team you can count on to play European football."
