Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso emerged victoriously as he finished ahead of the defending champion Marc Marquez of Honda.
Quartararo will be hoping to win his maiden Austrian Grand Prix title this year having already secured wins in the Spanish and Andalusian races.
As a result, Quartararo is placed at the top of the riders' standings ahead of his Yamaha teammates Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli.
However, the 21-year-old finished seventh in the latest round of the 2020 season which was the Czech Grand Prix on August 09.

Quartararo reflected on his performance in the Czech Republic and he promised to learn from the mistakes he did during the race.
"[It] really was not easy to do the race today, I'm sure it was the most difficult race of my career in MotoGP," Quartararo said.
"To learn from today is tough, because we had a long debrief with my crew chief and engineers to see where we do the mistakes. I think we do a few mistakes during the weekend, but not huge like we finished in that kind of position.
"Honestly, in the race I was feeling really bad. I was quite bad all the weekend, but in FP4 we made a huge step forward. But in the race we made two steps backwards," he added.
"So we need to analyse well. "For sure my crew chief and engineers will check a lot of data, I will check a lot with them because it's so important.
Yahama are sitting at the top of Manufacturers' Championship standings - 26 points above their closest rivals, KTM.
