As a Golfer looking to make first impressions last, Matt MaCarty will now shift his attention to the
Shriners Children’s Open after clinching the inaugural Black Desert Championship on the 12
th of October.
What to know about McCarty
McCarty booked his spot in next year's Masters and PGA Championship by winning the Black Desert Championship in Utah.
Currently in his rookie season, McCarty claimed a two-year exemption after his three-shot win against Stephan Jaeger at the Black Desert Championship.
The 26-year-old also bagged three victories on the Korn Ferry Tour this year and in the process, became the first player since Jason Gore in 2005 to win on both tours as a rookie.
What did he say
Speaking on his development throughout his Rookie year, McCarty mentioned that he placed much emphasis on his training regime behind the scenes.
The man from Scottsdale also expressed that he intends on maintaining his accuracy and swing in the coming months.
“My first year on Korn Ferry it was somewhat of a disadvantage like how far I was hitting it,” McCarty said after his win in Utah.
“So I made that a big focus the last couple years. I just was kind of a late bloomer, so just filling out a little bit more, eating more. Started there.
“I Started using the Stack System year and a half ago, so speed training. But just putting more of an emphasis on it. I wanted to do it in a way where I feel like I wasn't losing accuracy and didn't want to change my swing.”
