One of the pre-tournament favourites has been ruled out of the
2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open set to tee off at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas on Thursday.
The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday that world no.16 Tony Finau tested positive for COVID-19 and has been withdrawn from the event, with first alternate Bronson Burgoon to replace him in the field.
"Earlier today, I received a positive result for Covid-19 under PGA Tour on-site testing protocols and have begun a period of self-quarantine to protect others around me," Finau wrote on his Twitter account. "I am feeling well, and am otherwise in good spirits.
"I look forward to returning to action as soon as I am able, and I wish everyone at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open a great week ahead!"
The 31-year-old has been in good form over the last three years, claiming top five finishes at all four majors including a fourth place finish at the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park.
