The Foxes thumped Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 in an impressive display of attacking football to move up to third spot on Sunday, a point behind the league leaders.

“It was always going to be a difficult game,” Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers told LCFC TV. “We've seen Brighton all season and they've been unfortunate not to get some results. But I thought, in the first half, we were excellent.

“I really enjoyed the game from a tactical perspective, because we started off in a shape and Brighton surprised us a little bit with how they played. We then had to adjust our shape and then we changed it again at half-time.

“So, I enjoyed that aspect of the game, but [we scored] three outstanding goals, different types of goals, but of great quality and then in the second half we didn't need to chase it. We could control the game and play a little bit more on the counter," he concluded.

The Toffees returned to winning ways in the league with a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park this past weekend. Gylfi SigurĂ°sson was on target from the spot for the hosts as they moved up to seventh.

For the fans

"I am really pleased, in front of our supporters. We are really happy for them, they have seen a good match from Everton. We played well with fantastic spirit," Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti said.

"Defensively we did really well. The team sacrificed, that was the target because against the tough teams like Chelsea you have to sacrifice. We were dangerous on the counter and we didn't concede many opportunities. We deserved to win."

Leicester beat Everton 2-1 in the corresponding fixture last season. Richarlison opened the scoring for the visitors before goals from Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho for the hosts.
