Rwanda will lock horns with Mozambique in a
2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Stade Huye on June 18.
Current Form
The Wasps remain winless in Group L, but their ambitions of qualifying for the AFCON finals are very much alive having recorded three draws and one win.
Rwanda are winless in their last two home matches in the qualifiers having registered one defeat and one draw as the hosts.
Meanwhile, Mozambique have lost their last two Group L games, but they still have a chance of qualifying for the AFCON finals having recorded one win, one draw, and two defeats,
The Mambas have been bad travelers in the qualifiers having registered one win in their last four away games while the other three games ended in a defeat.
Key Players
Meddie Kagere - who is Rwanda's inspirational captain and striker - has netted 15 goals from 59 international matches and he will be keen to inspire his troops to a win.
Despite being 39 years old, Elias Pelembe remains a key player for Mozambique and his experience could be key to his side's victory in Butare.
What was said?
“I am disappointed with the result but not with how my team played,” Ferrer said after his side drew 1-1 with Benin at home in a Group L match on March 29.
“We have a point difference from the second team and they will have to come to play here. I am positive [because] the group is still open.”
Head-To-Head
The two teams have met five times across all competitions and Rwanda, and Mozambique have registered two wins each, while one game ended in a draw.
The Mambas were held to a 1-1 draw by the Wasps in their last meeting which was a 2023 AFCON qualifier played in Johannesburg, South Africa in June 2022.
