Tennis legend Roger Federer will chase yet another Wimbledon title when the 2019 edition of the famous Championships s held in London from 1-14 July.
Federer considers SW19 to be his ‘second home’, with the Swiss master having won no less than eight titles at the grass-court Grand Slam.
He last won Wimbledon in 2017, while his showing at last year’s edition ended in the quarterfinals when he was beaten in an epic five-set match by eventual runner-up, Kevin Anderson of South Africa.
Federer comes into Wimbledon on the back of a strong showing at the French Open in Roland Garros, where he was beaten in the semifinals by old foe and eventual champion Rafael Nadal.
Federer is seeded third at the 2019 Wimbledon behind top-ranked defending champion Novak Djokovic and Nadal, while the veteran will also face a threat to his ambitions from the likes of Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori and Alexander Zverev.
Yet he remains a crowd favourite at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and will surely be expecting to reach the sharp end of the tournament at the very least.
