Rory McIlroy will be determined to mark his 10th anniversary at the
Open Championship by clinching the trophy he won in 2014.

The Northern Irish legend is among the greatest golfers of his generation having won 40 professional tournaments including four major titles.
McIlroy is the only person to win the FedEx Cup three times, surpassing Tiger Woods' two and he has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year three times.

The 35-year-old was in action at the recent 2024 Genesis Scottish Open where he secured a top-five finish - finishing fourth.
McIlroy is currently placed second in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) having spent over a hundred weeks in the number one position during his career.

The two-time RTÉ Sports Person of the Year won the 2014 Open Championship, two strokes ahead of runners-up Rickie Fowler and Sergio García in Liverpool, England.
McIlroy has secured a top-four finish in his last six professional tournaments including a Fargo Championship win, and he is targeting his second Open Championship triumph.

"The reason that I like to play the week before the majors is to knock a little bit of rust off and try to get sharp," McIlroy said after his final round at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.
"And I feel like I've done that this week. If I can get the putter to co-operate and get the speed of the greens down...I feel like I'll be in a really good spot [for the Open]."
