What to know about Matsuyama
The Japanese star has won 17 worldwide wins, eight career top-10 finishes in major championships, and 2021 Masters Tournament.
Matsuyama's eight wins on the PGA Tour make him the most successful Japanese member of the PGA Tour in history.

Matsuyama was in action at the recent 151st British Open where he made a top 15 finish with Akshay Bhatia of the USA winning the golf major tournament.
The Ehime-born golfer finished 13th and he is currently placed 29th on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and his best overall ranking is second place.
Why Matsuyama is among the favourites
Matsuyama will be making his second start at the 3M Open and he was T7 in 2019 and had to withdraw last year prior to starting with an injury.
The last time the 31-year-old won a PGA Tour event was in January 2022 as he clinched the Sony Open in Hawaii and he will be eager to end his trophy drought.
What did he say
"I haven't done well at the British Open for a long time," Matsuyama said during the tournament on July 24.
"So it was nice playing for the first time in a while with the feeling that I could finish among the top ranks.
"I'll be happy if I can keep improving gradually."
