Atletico Madrid will go head to head with FC Barcelona in a Spanish La Liga match at the Estádio Cívitas Metropolitano on January 8.
This will be the 55th match between the two giants in La Liga since the 1995/96 campaign which is best remembered as the end of Johan Cruyff's era as a professional head coach.
Barcelona have dominated this rivalry, having recorded 26 wins compared to Atletico's 15 victories, while 13 matches ended in a draw.

Barcelona also emerged as 4-2 winners over Atletico in their last meeting in the league and the game was played at the Spotify Camp Nou on 6 February 2022.
Meanwhile, Atletico secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Elche CF in their last home match in this competition on December 29.
The win extended the Mattress Makers' unbeaten run to four matches at home in La Liga, having registered two draws and two victories.
While Barcelona claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over CA Osasuna in their last away match in La Liga on November 8.

Therefore, Barca are undefeated in their last two matches on the road, having recorded two consecutive victories as the visitors.
"La Liga tops our priorities," Barcelona manager Xavi Hernadez said as he indicated that winning the La Liga title is essential to 'bring stability' to the club.
