The Oklahoma City Thunder will be out to rumble the Cleveland Cavaliers when the teams meet in an NBA Regular Season game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on the morning of Sunday 16 January 2022. Tip-off is at 01:00.
The Thunder find themselves near the foot of the table in the Western Conference, having had a tough campaign thus far. Nonetheless, Oklahoma City have remained positive – even in defeats such as their 98-90 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last week.

“We knew getting guys back acclimated was going to take a minute or two during the game," Oklahoma City acting coach Mike Wilks said. "The thing that I saw from Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] as well as the rest of the team was togetherness. They stayed together. They kept fighting. Even when we got down big in the first quarter, the huddle was positive.”
The Cavaliers, by contrast, are looking a strong bet to claim a Playoff berth and have hovered around the .550 record. However, last week they were given something of a rude awakening in a 110-106 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

"We're learning that the fourth quarters are what's important," Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "Every shot, every pass, every possession, every box out, every rotation means everything. Give Memphis credit for hitting the shots at the end."
In head-to-head stats, the Thunder and the Cavaliers have met in 117 Regular Season games since 1970-71, with Oklahoma claiming 68 wins compared to 49 for Cleveland. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in April 2021, with the Cavaliers winning 129-102 away thanks to 27 points from Collin Sexton.
