Oklahoma City Thunder will be looking to keep the momentum going when they lock horns with Northwest Division rivals Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on the morning of Friday, February 14.

The Thunder are enjoying another outstanding season and they boast the best record in the NBA (43-9) to comfortably lead the way in the Western Conference.

Mark Daigneault's team have won eight of their last 10 games and they routed struggling New Orleans Pelicans 137-101 on February 11 to mark their sixth consecutive victory.

Oklahoma City set a franchise-record with 27 3-pointers against the Pelicans which saw 11 of their players score at least once from beyond the arc. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted a game-high 31 points and Aaron Wiggins added 24 off the bench.

Chet Holmgren was making only his second appearance since suffering a hip injury which kept him out of action for the last three months, and Daigneault welcomed his return to the floor.

"I just think he's a great competitor. He's got great fire... That's what makes him great, in addition to the talent," Daigneault said after Holmgren scored 12 points in just under 25 minutes against New Orleans.

The Timberwolves are in a fight to qualify directly for the playoffs after blowing hot and cold for much of the season thus far.

Chris Finch's team haven't managed to put together a winning streak of more than five games and they are currently in contention for a play-in berth in the West, with LA Clippers edging them out of the top six by a marginal win percentage.

Minnesota saw a three-game winning sequence come to an end with a 128-107 defeat to Eastern Conference leaders Cleveland Cavaliers on February 11 as they were made to pay for a slow start.

The Cavs scored the game's first 16 points, while the Timberwolves managed just 12 in the first quarter after missing their first 16 shots. Anthony Edwards scored an impressive 44 points, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide.

"I didn't like much about us tonight," Finch said. "We missed shots, I thought we would figure out how to get into the game. I didn't like our toughness tonight.

"I didn't like our offense at all. I thought it just kind of bogged down and their switching did some of that too, but I didn't think we were super intelligent on that side of the floor. I didn't like our resistance when it mattered, we've been playing way better than that."
