Arsenal and Chelsea will meet for an eagerly-anticipated London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 29 December 2019, kick-off at 14:00. The match is one of 10 spread over 28-29 December in the 20th round of the current Premier League season.
Chelsea have been through a wobble in form through November and December, with the Blues hoping that the challenge of facing one of their fiercest rivals will inspire a return to their best.
“Some responsibility is on the players to excite them and have the personality to take the ball and beat someone,” said manager Frank Lampard. “I can’t find anyone wanting in terms of how we apply ourselves but what we do on the pitch is the main thing, and at the moment it’s not good enough.”

Arsenal’s dire season has seen little for their fans to enjoy, and the pressure is very much on their players to put up a strong performance in front of their supporters to try and win back hearts and minds.
“We all have to look in the mirror and try to see,” said caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg, who will be desperate to see an improvement from his team against top-class opposition.
In head-to-head stats, Arsenal and Chelsea have met in 178 previous matches. The Gunners have claimed 68 wins compared to 59 for the Blues, while 51 games have been drawn.
The teams’ two Premier League matches last season both produced home wins, with Chelsea triumphing 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in August 2018, while the return game at the Emirates Stadium ended 2-0 in favour of Arsenal.
