The two teams were involved in a heated showdown at The Amex last season and go into Christmas in 15th and 17th spot on the league standings, to add further 'spice' and importance to the clash.
Arsenal have endured a dismal campaign and head to Brighton having lost their two most recent away games. A 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur was followed by a 2-1 loss at Everton and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that his team are in trouble.
"You have two types of people: fighters and victims," said Arteta following their loss at Goodison Park. "You need fighters and you don't want any victims.
"Victims bring excuses, victims bring negativity and they start to blame anything that is happening around them or is not going their way.
"You need people who fight, people who contribute and people who are ready to give everything to the club at this moment.
He added after their Carabao Cup exit on Tuesday: "We have to turn it around, there’s no question about that. We are in big trouble. I am focused on the fighters we have."
For all the good football they have played this season, Brighton also find themselves amid a relegation scrap and the Seagulls head into the fixture having yet to win at home this season. In fact, their last win at home came against Arsenal in June.

Brighton won the corresponding fixture last season 2-1. Nicolas Pepe opened the scoring for the visitors before goals from Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupey who was also on target at Emirates Stadium in the reverse fixture last season, as the Seagulls completed a league double over Arteta's men.
