2022/23 English Premier League

Matchday 4

Arsenal v Fulham

Emirates Stadium
London, England
Saturday, 27 August 2022
Kick-off is at 16h30

Premier League leaders Arsenal will be aiming to keep their 100 per cent record intact when they host Fulham in a London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 27.

The Gunners beat newly-promoted Bournemouth 3-0 on the south coast at the weekend to maintain their winning start to the season.

Mikel Arteta's side had beaten Crystal Palace 2-0 on the opening weekend and followed it up with a 4-2 win over Leicester, which means they are the sole leaders after Manchester City dropped two points against Newcastle on Sunday.

Arteta isn't reading too much into their league standing though, admitting the season doesn't get decided after just three games, but he is encouraged by what he has seen from the team so far.

"It's just three games. It doesn't mean anything, there are still other teams that have to play," the Spaniard said.

"What it means is that we have managed to win three games, that we are scoring goals, keeping clean sheets, the team is playing and performing well, competing really well.

"But it's about Monday, start training again and start to get better at the other things that we have to do as well, and focus on Fulham."

The Cottagers claimed their first victory of the new campaign when they edged Brentford 3-2 on Saturday, courtesy of Aleksandar Mitrovic's last-minute winner.

Marco Silva's troops remain unbeaten since earning promotion back to the Premier League as Championship winners last term, having recorded back-to-back draws against Liverpool and Wolves in their opening two encounters.

Silva was delighted with the way his players responded after the Bees equalised to make it 2-2, and insisted their performance warranted all three points.

"It's a great afternoon for us, I think everyone enjoyed it," the Portuguese tactician said. "We deserved the three points, overall we were the best team on the pitch, in the first half we controlled almost all of the game, but unfortunately for us they then scored just on half-time.

"I asked our players to start the second half strongly, to not give them the belief, but they are strong, they started to play more direct, and they started to create some problems for us. We let the game go their way, direct balls, and they are stronger than us in those types of situations.

"But I have to congratulate our players, even after they equalised, our reaction was really good. We started to play again, and getting that winner was a very good feeling."
