Defending champions Atletico Madrid will be aiming to build on their positive start to the
2021/22 LaLiga season when they host Elche at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday.

Atleti got their title defence up and running with a 2-1 win at Celta Vigo. Angel Correa continued from where he left off last season with a well-taken brace to lead the Madrid club to all three points.
"We played really well, controlling the first half and causing lots of problems to a side that plays very good football," said Atletico manager Diego Simeone in the aftermath.
"The penalty gave the game a different feel but we responded very well with a superb goal. We played at a very high pace and I'm very happy about that."
Elche ended last season with back-to-back wins and started the new campaign with a 0-0 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Atleti completed a LaLiga double over Elche last season. Simeone's team won 3-1 in Madrid before a 1-0 win away.
