Alex Noren will be hoping to record his maiden victory on the PGA Tour by clinching the
2023 Mexico Open.
What to know about Noren
The Swedish star is one of the top European golfers and he is currently placed 50th on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
Noren has won 11 professional tournaments including the BMW PGA Championship and British Masters, but he is yet to win a PGA Tour event.
News
The 40-year-old is coming into the 2023 Mexico Open having missed the cut at this month's Masters Tournament with Jon Rahm winning the tournament.
Noren's best performance in 2023 came at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship where he finished fifth in January.
Why Noren is among the favourites
Placed 50th on the OWGR, Noren is the third highest ranked player in the field at the Mexico Open and he is among the favourites to win the event.
Noren will view the Mexico Open as his best chance to win his maiden PGA Tour event and move up on the OWGR.
Quotes
“I live in America, but my heart is with Europe. I want to play more in Europe, but it’s always tough to balance the two tours. Both tours are getting better," Noren said about competing in the PGA Tour and European Tour on Worldwide Golf.
"It’s tough with family, tours and travel. I was happy to play at the Hero Cup, great to see so many old faces as I’ve played on the DP World Tour since 2007, and the Challenge Tour before that. It’s a long time, and it was nice to be there in Abu Dhabi.
"I’ll play Sweden, Scotland this year and fit some more in. I wish I could play more. My ideal season is like 2018 when I did well in the States, then I can go over to Europe, and then back to America, then back to Europe again in the Fall," he added.
"It’s two months here, two months there. That’s the best I think. That’s my goal, but you’ve got to play very well to do that. You’ve got to play well in America, then Europe.”
