Villarreal CF will do battle with Athletic Bilbao in a

The Yellow Submarine suffered a 2-0 defeat to UD Levante away in their previous league game which was played on April 2.
Therefore, Villarreal are also winless in their last two matches in this competition having recorded two successive defeats.
However, the Yellow Submarine are undefeated in their last eight matches at home in La Liga having registered two draws and six victories as the hosts.

"We were talking about the game and the attitude when facing these games with which teams risk their lives. There were certain things in the game that we were not doing well," Villarreal manager Unai Emery said after their loss to Levante.
"But today the attitude was good. We got to their goal and the team did a game on the line that if you had hit the rival goal would have changed. It was clear that whoever scored before would win the game.
"They have found the way to open up and after their first goal they have tried to make few things happen and when we were looking for the equalizer from the push, their second goal has come. We have lacked the success in the last stretch."

Meanwhile, Bilbao emerged as 2-1 winners over Elche CF at home in their previous league game which was played on April 3.
As a result, the Lions are undefeated in their last two matches in this competition having recorded one draw and one win.
However, Bilbao are winless in their last three matches on the road in La Liga having registered three successive defeats as the visitors.
The last league meeting between Villarreal and Bilbao was on 23 October 2021.
Bilbao secured a 2-1 win over Villarreal in a match that took place at San Mames which is also known as Nuevo San Mamés or San Mames Barria.
