2020/21 Spanish La Liga

Matchday 31

Spain
21-22 April 2021

Sevilla FC will be looking to consolidate their spot in a Spanish La Liga top four when they face Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on April 21.

This will be the 32nd competitive meeting between the two teams since 1997 and Sevilla have the edge over Levante.

Fourth-placed Sevilla have recorded 17 victories compared to Levante's six victories, while eight matches ended in a draw.

The last match between the two teams ended in a 1-0 win in favour of Sevilla in a La Liga game at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on 1 October 2020.

Julen Lopetegui, the Sevilla manager, has stressed the importance of their clash with Levante after he masterminded a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad on April 18.

"The games are over when they are over. La Real scored an early goal from a mismatch, and we equalised soon after, which I think was key," Lopetegui said.

"They changed their formation and we changed some things too. We had to dig deep, even though we had a chance to kill the match off.

"Like every match, it's important, and we're up against a Levante UD side who compete well. It's time to focus on recovering well and preparing for that match."

Meanwhile, fifth-placed Villarreal will be keen to keep their top-four hopes alive when they lock horns with Deportivo Alaves at the Estadio de Mendizorroza on April 21.

The two teams are scheduled to clash for the 24th time across all competitions since 1994 and Alaves have the upper hand.

Alaves have registered 12 wins compared to Villarreal's 10 victories, while one game ended in a draw.

The last match between the two teams was on 30 September 2020 and Villarreal secured a 3-1 win over Alaves in a La Liga game at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Lastly, sixth-placed Real Betis will also be eager to move closer to the top four teams when they play host to Athletic Bilbao at the Estadio Benito Villamarin on April 21.

The two teams will meet for the 52nd time across all competitions since 1994 and Bilbao have an edge over Betis.

Bilbao have claimed 20 victories compared to Betis' 15 wins, while 16 matches ended in a draw.

Their last meeting in La Liga ended in a 4-0 victory in favour of Bilbao at the San Mames Barria on 23 November 2020.
