The 2019 edition of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany is set to feature all of the current Major champions and eight of the current top 10 in the world rankings. The tournament takes place at the Porsche-Arena from 22 to 28 April.
US Open and Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka, Wimbledon victor Angelique Kerber, Roland Garros winner Simona Halep and defending champion Karolina Pliskova have all entered the tournament.
This means that all of the current reigning Major winners will compete in Stuttgart for the first time since 2012, when Kvitova, Li Na, Samantha Stosur and Victoria Azarenka all participated.
Pliskova and Kerber are amongst five former champions in the field, along with Julia Goerges (2011), Maria Sharapova (2012, 2013, 2014) and Laura Siegemund (2017) – the latter two are in the draw as wildcards.
The likes of GarbiƱe Muguruza, Jelena Ostapenko, Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina, Caroline Garcia, Sloane Stephens, Elina Svitolina and Kiki Bertens add further depth to the incredible quality on show. The singles draw size is 32 players, with a total prize fund of US$886,077.
