2019/20 FA Cup
Third Round Proper (Last 64)
4-6 January 2020
Wolverhampton Wanderers will be on the hunt for the scalp of Manchester United when the teams meet in an FA Cup Third Round clash at Molineux Stadium on Saturday 4 January 2020, kick-off at 17:31.
Wolverhampton come into the clash on the back of midweek defeat in the Premier League, having succumbed 2-1 away to a resurgent Watford.
Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that the short turnaround between games at this time of year makes his job exceptionally difficult: “Obviously every manager and player would like more time between the games to recover well, but this is the reality,” the Portuguese explained.
“We have mentioned this many times and it is very difficult. Sometimes it is almost absurd the hours between matches, so you just try to do it.”

United also suffered a Wednesday loss, putting in a performance lacking intensity and grit in their 2-0 reverse at Arsenal, while news of midfielder Paul Pogba needing surgery on his foot a further blow.
“You can say that [it's two steps forward, one step back] because of course we have lost the game after two wins. Then again, it's for me it was a game between two teams that do have loads of quality,” explained manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
In head-to-head stats, Wolverhampton and Man United have met in 85 previous matches. Wolves have claimed 31 wins compared to 39 for the Red Devils, while 15 games have been drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a 1-1 draw at Molineux Stadium in August last year, while Wolves famously put United out of last season’s FA Cup in March, winning 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota.
