The Blues have taken seven points from their opening three matches, following wins over Crystal Palace (3-0) and Arsenal (2-0) with a credible 1-1 draw at Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel's men were reduced to 10-men in the first-half at Anfield following Reece James' sending off, but showed a lot of grit and desire to claim what could prove to be a pivotal point in the greater scheme of things.

"We are proud of what we did because we showed that we know that we can suffer sometimes and we can fight. It was nice to see everyone fighting and running and helping each other as a team properly, so I think the draw was fair and we can be happy with it," Chelsea midfielder Jorginho said in the aftermath of that match.

"We are growing as a team because we believe in what we do," added the Italian. "We just need to grow game by game and then we see what will happen.

"The focus now is to be humble, stay hungry for wins and to keep working hard and never drop our levels. When you drop even a little bit that is the problem.

"We need to keep fighting and working hard as a team. In the end we will see where that takes us."

Villa lost their opening game of the season 3-2 away to Watford but followed that up with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United before being held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford.

Last season, Villa took four points off Chelsea. Dean Smith's team held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge before a 2-1 win over the Blues in the reverse fixture.
