Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his concern over the Red Devils busy schedule as they head into a run of tough fixtures. United are currently in 4 competitions which is the most of any of the 20 Premier League clubs and Mourinho’s concerns lie in the huge build-up of fixtures that his team have to face in the coming months.
United play host to French side St Etienne on Thursday night in the Europa league followed by an FA Cup tie against Blackburn on Sunday and the EFL Cup Final against Southampton at Wembley a week later. If United are to beat Blackburn on the weekend, they will progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup which will lead to further fixture changes which could create even more stress and frustration for the United boss.
The Red Devils have already played 38 fixtures this season with a worrying potential to have played more fixtures (As many as 65) than any other English club by the end of the season.
Premier League – 25 Matches
FA Cup – 2 Matches
EFL Cup – 5 Matches
Europa League – 6 Matches
Mourinho said
"We know our situation is really complicated"
"With the accumulation of FA Cup, League Cup and match postponed it is really hard for us."
"If you progress in the competitions, we will be in trouble in April and May. But we cannot choose competitions so we play to win."
The United boss will have to wait and see but all we know is that the Red Devils are going to need a well-deserved vacation by the end of this season!
