Maverick Vinales will be looking to return to winning ways in the 2024 MotoGP season by winning the
Italian MotoGP.
Most recent race
Vinales was unable to secure a podium spot at the most recent event on the 2024 calendar which was the Catalan MotoGP on 26 May.
The Aprilia Racing rider finished 12th which saw him fail to collect a single point from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya event.
MotoGP title ambitions
Vinales is fifth second on the 2024 MotoGP Riders' standings having accumulated 87 points from six races.
The Spaniard is 68 points behind the leader & Ducati rider Jorge Martin and he has to close the gap in order to challenge for the MotoGP world title.
Why Vinales could win the 2024 Italian MotoGP
Vinales has already tasted success this season when he won the Americas MotoGP in April ahead of Pedro Acosta of KTM and Ducati's Enea Bastianini.
The 2013 Moto3 World Champion will be determined to regain the form that saw him win the Americas MotoGP this weekend.
What did he say?
"I didn’t have great sensations on the bike and I was unable to be competitive," Vinales said after finishing 12 in the 2024 Catalan MotoGP sprint race.
"I feel like I’m always at the limit with the front tyre and I can’t brake. It was difficult, but I’m still optimistic because we have another opportunity in the long race. We’ll work in the garage to have a better feeling in the race.
"I’m extremely happy for Aleix [Espargaro] and for the team. They deserve this win".
